I’m Richard Hemingway and I work as a Data Engineer for Speccheck.

I shoot Target Rifle for Rugeley Rifle Club and am County Captain for Staffordshire. I’ve had the privilege to occasionally shoot for Wales, and was selected to the GB Team for the 2018 Dewar Match.

I sleep, I have opinions about IT Security and Privacy on the web. Some of them might not be nonsense. I like my services minimalist and self-hosted and am trying to move away from centralised social platforms towards the indieweb.

I’m especially interested in the relationship between traditional web and social media, their relative merits and how we communicate and exchange data. Currently of the opinion that blogs offer a better way to present nuanced discussion and long-form writing than most social platforms. Less shouting, reactionary posting and name-calling.
